St. Katharina research project in Vienna

In a residential group for dementia patients in the St. Katharina care home in Vienna controllable lighting was installed during a refurbishment which enables various light intensities and colours. The effects of this on the residents was systematically investigated.

Two static and one dynamic lighting scenario (simulating daylight transitions) with varying light intensity levels and light colours were compared. Measurements were taken over a period of almost two years (at least 8 weeks for each lighting scenario) and completed in autumn 2009.
